Yesterday at the\u00a0Greater St. Mark Church at Klot Beik\u00a0HH Pope Tawadros II,Pope of Alexandria and the see of St.Mark led eve prayer prior\u00a0the ordination of the New bishop of Jerusalem. His Holiness Pope Tawadros II\u00a0anointed\u00a0the new\u00a0Bishop clothes with the participation of\u00a0Church Bishops,and announced Father Theodore “new bishop of Jerusalem”\u00a0new name “Anthony”. The Archbishop of Jerusalem oversees six countries which are: Kuwait, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Jerusalem and Jordan.<\/span><\/h2>\n

Father Theodore Anthony entered the church clutching the hand of\u00a0 Bishop Justus, bishop of\u00a0St. Anthony monastery in the Red Sea, the monastery where father Theodore was ordained as a monk and the hand of Bishop Andraos Bishop Of Abotej,the city where father Theodore was born, grew up and served. The\u00a0grand St. Mark church Scout played\u00a0“Marsh Scout” at HH Pope Tawadros II, and the new bishop entry to the church while audiences cheered and ululated.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Before the Pope and Bishops of the Holy Synod arrival members of the Scouts wearing badges bearing the image of Father Theodore were deployed in the church vicinity, to be sure of the identity of the entrants\u00a0and the area around the church saw security\u00a0Tightening\u00a0from\u00a0the police. <\/span><\/h2>\n

The Pope expressed his happiness on the occasion, he said in his speech: “We are in\u00a0a historic day in the history of the Coptic Church, for several reasons: First: We meet at the St. Mark’s Church, former\u00a0Pontifical headquarter, for 200 years where 8 Patriarchs were ordained and Sitted\u00a0and the last one was late Pope St. Kyrollos “Cyril” VI.\u00a0<\/span>
\nSo we are in a place that carries a whiff of history, heritage and spirit of holiness and inspired the spirit of the fathers\u00a0who were\u00a0ordained in this blessed Church.<\/span>
\nHH Pope Twadros II cited the\u00a0names of the patriarchs who were\u00a0ordained\u00a0at St. Mark Church and they are\u00a0Pope Botros “Peter” VII, Pope Demetrius, \u00a0Pope Kyrollos”Cyril” IV, Pope Yoannes “John”, and Pope Makarios, Pope Yousab, and Pope Kyrollos “Cyril” VI, pointing out that the circumstances and Coincidence\u00a0that made us meet in this place due to the restoration of the cathedral and because it\u00a0is\u00a0full of\u00a0scaffolding”<\/span>
\nHe added: The second reason\u00a0is that we rejoice of the ordination of \u00a0Archbishop of Jerusalem after three months from\u00a0the Departure of Archbishop\u00a0Abraham<\/span>
\nAnd the third point is: We have 6 of the venerable Bishops who have tired in the church service and we\u00a0thank ad honor them by promoting them to\u00a0Archbishops, although promotion\u00a0is not a church expression, but we use it for its positive\u00a0meaning.<\/span><\/h2>\n
