Pope Tawadros II met with Australia\u2019s prime minister and senior government officials on Wednesday during the spiritual leader of Egypt\u2019s Coptic Orthodox Church\u2019s first visit to the country.<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"color: #111111; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'andale mono', times;\">Peter Khalil, the only Copt elected to the Australian Parliament, attended the meetings at Parliament House and said they covered the importance of Egyptian unity and the international fight against extremism.<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"color: #111111; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'andale mono', times;\">His Holiness\u00a0told reporters after meeting Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull that Egypt had economic problems following the disruption of revolutions in 2011 and 2013.<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"color: #111111; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'andale mono', times;\">\u201cI think these meetings and this visit strengthens the relationship between our two countries,\u201d the pope said.<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"color: #111111; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'andale mono', times;\">\u201cAny support from Australia or other countries to Egypt will be appreciated from all Egyptians,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"color: #111111; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'andale mono', times;\">Coptic Christians have come under increasing attack from Islamic militants in Egypt.<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>H.H.
