Those hidden people are deemed wealthy by the ignorant due to their chasteness, be careful not to abandon someone\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\">who asked your help!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0When \u201cAhmad Ibn Tulun\u201d entered Damascus, a fire broke out in a church \u00a0built on the name of Saint Virgin Mary. Inspecting the effects of the fire, \u00a0\u00a0Ibn \u00a0Tulun was accompanied by \u201cAbu Zara\u2019a Al Nasry\u201d and his clerk \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u201cAbu Abdullah\u201d, he asked about that place name and he was told it was \u201cMary\u2019s Church\u201d; Abu Abdullah asked:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cDid Mary have a church?\u201d<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0and Abu Zara\u2019a replied:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cthe Church is not built by Mary, \u00a0yet it is built on her name\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0Ibn Tulun then rebuked his clerk Abu Abdullah saying:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cWhy do you object \u00a0the Sheikh!\u201d<\/span>\u00a0then he secured 70 thousand Dinars of his own money as a \u00a0compensation for whoever had something burnt<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0The money was presented to the people and 14 thousand Dinars remained.<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0He as well ordered money to be given to the poor people of Damascus and \u00a0Ghouta.<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0Ibn Tulun also cared about feeding the needy: He caused kitchens in\u00a0Al-Qata&#8217;I to cook for the poor and needy daily, he was used to slaying sheep \u00a0and cattle and serving them to people.<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0Reportedly, he was used to holding a great banquet announced across\u00a0Egypt\u2019s streets that anyone could attend, while he ordered all the square \u00a0\u00a0doors to be opened, sitting at the top of his palace, happily watching people \u00a0\u00a0eating and carrying food, he then thanked God for His blessings.<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0Some historians praised Ibn Tulun\u2019s traits, Ibn Al Atheer said:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cHe was strict reasonable, immensely giving alms and doing charity, religious, loving for scholars and religion men. He did many works of righteousness, fulfilling \u00a0\u00a0the Muslims\u2019 interests\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0Describing him, Shams Al Din Al Zahaby said:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cHe was a brave hero, dauntless, dignified ruler,bounteous and praised by clever kings\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0However, such good traits were accompanied by some other traits which urged historians to criticize him!<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0\u201cIbn Taghri\u201d cited:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cAll Ibn Tulun\u2019s traits were praised, however, he was of sharp character and mood, when ruled over Egypt and the Levant, he oppressed many and shed lots of blood; it was reported that 18 thousands died in his prisons\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0 \u00a0While Al Zahaby said: \u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\">Yet, he was a tyrant murderer\u201d<\/span>, whereas\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Mostafa Saadeq Al-Rafe&#8217;ie described him in his book \u201cInspired Pen\u201d saying:<span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cHe had a pleading hand with angels, and a knocking hand with devils.\u201d!<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0A tale said that Ibn Tulun once had a dream that truth had dies in his house!<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0He woke up panic stricken and asked the dreams interpreters about the meaning of such dream made him disturbed, yet nobody answered him, until someone had asked to be granted safety in order to speak, then he told him:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cyou are an unjust man!, you have killed the truth inside your house!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(128, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">Ibn Tulun\u2019s death<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0It came to happen that Yazaman al-Khadim revolted against the Tulunid vice governor of Tarsus and arrested him, then he disobeyed Ibn Tulun who upon hearing those news, amassed the armies and moved to fight with Yazaman and to restore Tarsus. Receiving Ibn Tulun\u2019s messages, Yazaman disregarded them, and was besieged by Ibn Tulun<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0Ibn Al Atheer said:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cYazaman opened the river of the country and flooded the sites of Ibn Tulun\u2019s soldiers, who were all about to perish, which forced Ahmad to leave angrily, and it was winter. He then sent to Yazaman saying: \u201cI left only lest the enemies should exploit that port\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0Returning to Antioch, Ibn Tulun drank buffalos\u2019 milk excessively, which stroke him by cholera, accompanied by its symptoms; severe vomiting, diarrhea and feebleness. He asked his Coptic doctor \u201cSa\u2019id Ibn Tofail\u201d who ordered him to abstain from eating for two days. yet, he felt hungry and secretly ate a sheep and chicken! so his treatment failed, that he used to be carried on a palanquin (a bed with two arms on each side) to facilitate carrying him. He arrived at Egypt filled with anger towards Sa\u2019id,<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: &quot;andale mono&quot;, times;\">\u00a0 \u00a0called doctor &#8220;Hassan bin Zirk&#8221; doctor and complained to him about Sa\u2019id.
