The Coptic Orthodox Church issued a statement regarding the fire that took place in St. Virgin Mary church in Nasiriyah – Bani Mazar.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

On Saturday, <\/span><\/strong>after holding\u00a0the morning mass and closing of the doors of the church around 9:00 am , a fire broke out in\u00a0St. Virgin Mary Church around\u00a01:00 pm.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The residents of the village of Nasiriyah. Muslims and Copts,\u00a0 <\/span>tried<\/span>\u00a0to control the fire\u00a0before civil protection came and extinguished the\u00a0fire .<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

The cause of the fire is not yet known and criminal investigation\u00a0police are currently investigating to find out the real causes of the fire.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Copts and Muslims were injured and 11 people, left the hospital after having treatment.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

As for the damage caused by the fire, the roof, walls and\u00a0altars were destroyed.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n
