Throughout people\u2019s life, m<\/span>inut<\/span>es, hours, days, and years pass,\u00a0<\/span>some people<\/span>let their\u00a0<\/span>lives\u00a0<\/span>pass meaninglessly,\u00a0<\/span>while others\u00a0<\/span>turn life into a<\/span>n unforgettable history, engraved in\u00a0<\/span>people\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0hearts and memories. Those who endow life with its\u00a0<\/span>most exalted<\/span>\u00a0meanings,\u00a0<\/span>live<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>humanity<\/span>\u00a0in its true sense<\/span>, sacrificing for the sake\u00a0<\/span>of elevatin<\/span>g<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the homelands and life.<\/span>\u00a0This is how the life of the great\u00a0<\/span>goes<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>among whom is<\/span>\u00a0the deceased\u00a0<\/span>man of\u00a0<\/span>Egypt<\/span>:\u00a0<\/span>M<\/span>ohame<\/span>d Farid Khamis;<\/span>\u00a0a man who chose to live\u00a0<\/span>for<\/span>\u00a0the service of his country;<\/span>\u00a0as h<\/span>e loved e<\/span>ach\u00a0<\/span>particle<\/span>\u00a0of\u00a0<\/span>its earth\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>has\u00a0<\/span>bec<\/span>o<\/span>me a great national symbol and an economic figure.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Mohamed Farid Khamis was born on 14\/4\/1940\u00a0<\/span>in\u00a0<\/span>Bela city in Kafr El-Sheikh\u00a0<\/span>governorate.\u00a0<\/span>He obtained Bachelor\u2019s degree in commerce at Ain Shams University in 1961<\/span>, then worked at the National Bank of Egypt, obtained a Master\u2019s degree in industrial costs and conducted studies in the\u00a0<\/span>industry<\/span>\u00a0of textile<\/span>. In 2008, he obtained\u00a0<\/span>the PhD at<\/span>\u00a0the British<\/span>Loughborough University<\/span>. He got married and was blessed with children; Yasmeen, Farida<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and Mohamed, he had three grandchildren: Omar, Malak and Osama.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Mohame<\/span>d Farid Khamis realized that industry is the way to a<\/span>dvanced\u00a0<\/span>societies<\/span>; hence, h<\/span>e worked\u00a0<\/span>relentlessly<\/span>\u00a0until became one\u00a0<\/span>of the most prominent Egyptian\u00a0<\/span>industrialists. He founded the\u00a0<\/span>Orientals<\/span>\u00a0group;\u00a0<\/span>an integrated group of companies working in the field of textiles and petrochemicals, the most prominent of which at the<\/span>\u00a0local and international levels\u00a0<\/span>are<\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span>Oriental Weavers for Carpets, MAC,\u00a0<\/span>Oriental Weavers International<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Orientals for Urban Development<\/span>, Or<\/span>ientals for Tourism Development,\u00a0<\/span>Orienta<\/span>ls for Agricultural Development,\u00a0<\/span>Orientals for Industrial Project<\/span>s, IFFCO (fiber products),<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Egyptian<\/span>\u00a0P<\/span>r<\/span>opylene and\u00a0<\/span>Polypropylene<\/span>\u00a0Company<\/span>, Tenth of Ramadan for Development and Educational Services<\/span>. These companies w<\/span>ork in the fields of: carpet manufacturing, fibers, spinning, petrochemicals, tourism, real estate<\/span>, textiles,<\/span>agricultural industries, international trade, educational activities, and\u00a0<\/span>are\u00a0<\/span>always pioneer<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0in the Egyptian and international societies<\/span>. Usually, the<\/span>Oriental\u00a0<\/span>W<\/span>eavers<\/span>\u00a0win th<\/span>e award for best production in the<\/span>\u00a0world, as happened in Hanover<\/span>\u00a0in Germany, and Atlanta in America.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Not only did\u00a0<\/span>M<\/span>o<\/span>ham<\/span>e<\/span>d Farid Khamis belie<\/span>ve<\/span>\u00a0in work, production and manufacturing, but\u00a0<\/span>also\u00a0<\/span>that man is the maker of civilization and the founder of\u00a0<\/span>renaissances of nat<\/span>ions as well as the progression and enlightenment of societies<\/span>. H<\/span>e believed\u00a0<\/span>that the path towards real progress lies in specialized science\u00a0<\/span>that\u00a0<\/span>is the\u00a0<\/span>fruit<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>of advanced scientific research. Hence,\u00a0<\/span>showed up<\/span>his interest in science, so he\u00a0<\/span>played a prominent role in\u00a0<\/span>founding the\u00a0<\/span>British University in Egypt<\/span>, being its B<\/span>oard of\u00a0<\/span>T<\/span>rustees<\/span>\u00a0Chairman<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>he founded\u00a0<\/span>El Shorouk Academy<\/span>\u00a0and contributed<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>– along many years-\u00a0<\/span>to the enrichment of the national economy, to\u00a0<\/span>an extent that some called him Talaat Harb of Egypt.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

H<\/span>e made distinguished contributions and\u00a0<\/span>played\u00a0<\/span>roles of great effects in\u00a0<\/span>society;<\/span>\u00a0he<\/span>\u00a0dedicated care to\u00a0<\/span>Upper Egypt and\u00a0<\/span>established<\/span>\u00a0many development projects and charitable works. In addition, he supported the Islamic and Christian places of worship in\u00a0<\/span>Egypt<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>abroad<\/span>, contributed to promoting<\/span>\u00a0for\u00a0<\/span>the Holy Family path by<\/span>\u00a0manufacturing<\/span>\u00a0a distinguished textile collection that embodies the blessed visit to\u00a0<\/span>Egypt<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>What he did when\u00a0<\/span>the ancient church in the Monastery of Saint D<\/span>e<\/span>miana for Nuns in Belqas was burned<\/span>\u00a0will never be forgotten<\/span>, as<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>he sent an engineering committee of\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>Faculty of Engineering\u00a0<\/span>professors<\/span>\u00a0in order to\u00a0<\/span>repair the church and it<\/span>\u00a0was restored to its former state<\/span>. Moreover, he<\/span>\u00a0printed the biography of Saint Demiana, t<\/span>ranslat<\/span>ing\u00a0<\/span>i<\/span>t in<\/span>to<\/span>\u00a0several foreign languages. He is th<\/span>at<\/span>\u00a0patriotic loving<\/span>\u00a0man, the one who serves all\u00a0<\/span>in complete\u00a0<\/span>self denial!<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

He also established Fouad Khamis Complex for Al-Azhar Institutes, on an area of 20,000 square meters<\/span>\u00a0f<\/span>or boys<\/span>\u2019<\/span>\u00a0and girls’ basic education at the Tenth of Ramadan<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Mohamed Farid Khamis<\/span>\u00a0held several influential important posts:\u00a0<\/span>Chairman of the Egyptian Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Egyptian Federation of Investors Associations and Institutions, Former Chairman of the\u00a0<\/span>Shura Council<\/span>\u2019s Committee of\u00a0<\/span>Industry, Energy and Transport<\/span>, Former<\/span>\u00a0Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, Chairman of the Arab Council for Green Economy,\u00a0<\/span>M<\/span>ember of the Supreme Investment\u00a0<\/span>Council headed by the President.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

In addition to the above, he is the founder and president of some non-govern<\/span>mental organizations, such as: Mo<\/span>ham<\/span>ed<\/span>\u00a0Farid Khamis Foundation for Community Development,\u00a0<\/span>founded\u00a0<\/span>seventeen years ago, and is concerned with scientific excellence, especially the\u00a0<\/span>top students of Secondary education<\/span>, and\u00a0<\/span>Kh<\/span>amis Foundation for Development<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0which<\/span>\u00a0is<\/span>concerned about\u00a0<\/span>projects to serve the\u00a0<\/span>T<\/span>enth\u00a0<\/span>of<\/span>\u00a0Ramadan<\/span>\u00a0city<\/span>, transporting approximately 6,500 students\u00a0<\/span>daily\u00a0<\/span>from\u00a0<\/span>their residence\u00a0<\/span>to their universities for free, and h<\/span>e\u00a0<\/span>establish<\/span>ed\u00a0<\/span>Khamis Charitable Hospital to serve its people. He was honored internationally: in 2008, the Crown Prince of Belgium<\/span>\u00a0then (currently the king)\u00a0<\/span>awarded him the highest Belgian<\/span>\u00a0merit<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

He\u00a0<\/span>was concerned<\/span>\u00a0about Egypt, always\u00a0<\/span>thinking about it and striving for its stability, putting all his experiences for its prosperity. On 9\/19\/20<\/span>20<\/span>, he\u00a0<\/span>departed from<\/span>\u00a0our world in the\u00a0<\/span>United States of America, after struggl<\/span>ing with illness.\u00a0<\/span>May God rest his soul and\u00a0<\/span>con<\/span>sole\u00a0<\/span>his family and loved ones,\u00a0<\/span>inasmuch as he greatly influenced\u00a0<\/span>industry, science and development. And …\u00a0<\/span>stories never end in Beautiful\u00a0<\/span>Egypt<\/span>!<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n
