Fr Rafiq Jreish: Rescue convoy from Egyptian Churches on its way to Irbil today to assist Iraq’s destitute

Father Rafiq Jreish, head of the press office of the Catholic Church, said a rescue convoy formed by the three churches to assist the Iraqi people was on its way to Irbil, as he clarified that the convoy includes food supplies, dairy products for infants and clothing weighing around 70 tons, to rescue Christians and Yazidis and other religious minorities in Iraq, who have been forcefully evicted and murdered at the hands of the Islamic State group in Iraq and the Levant ISIS. The Chaldean Church in Cairo had called for the organizing of a rescue convoy in cooperation with the Egyptian Churches, for the sake of the evicted and destitute of Iraq, who now number 100 thousand Iraqis. The diocese announced receipt of aid at the St. Fatima Church of Heliopolis, and St. Kyrillos [Cyril] church in Korba, in the form of food supplies, clothing, infant foodstuffs, to assist the refugees in Irbil.
