The Coptic Orthodox Church revealed details of the fire that broke out in the monastery of St. Mina in Mariout, Alexandria, confirming that the fire broke out in a church under construction, near the graves of martyrs.
The church explained in a statement that the fire destroyed the “wooden scaffold” used to build the cathedral, and the fire was extinguished and there were no casualties.
Major General Mustafa El Nimr, Director of Alexandria Security, received a notification from the Police Department, stating that a fire broke out at the monastery of St. Mina in Marriout.
The Civil Protection Department officers moved immediately to the incident and preliminary inspection was conducted to find out the causes of the fire, and record was issued and sent to prosecution for investigation.
