Today Their Graces Bishop Ermia, General Bishop, head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center and Assistant Secretary-General of the Egyptian Family House and Bishop Paula Bishop of Tanta attended the religious affairs committee of the House of Representatives meeting, which is headed by Prof. ElSayed Sharif first secretary of the parliament to talk about the renewal of religious discourse.
At the outset of the meeting, the participants, including Dr. Shawki Allam, Egypt’s Mufti, Dr. Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa Minister of Awqaf, Mr. Mahmoud ElSharif, Undersecretary of the House of Representatives, Dr. Ali Gomaa, the former mufti, some parliament members and a number of university professors from Al-Azhar University and the General universities held a minute of silence to mourn the martyrs of Egypt in the latest terrorist incidents.
Participants of religious and parliamentary leaders at the meeting stressed on the need to renew religious discourse to confront terrorism, and emphasized on Islam’s rejection of violence in all its forms , as well as drafting legislation in this regard.
