The Egyptian Ministry of Interior revealed on Friday the identity of the terrorist who executed the attack of the church of Marminna in Helwan, south of Cairo.
His name is Ibrahim Ismail Ibrahim Mustafa. He was born on July 4, 1984 and worked as handicraftsman.
He lived in Mansheyet El Sadd are in Helwan, Cairo, and used a number of agricultural areas in Upper Egypt as hiding places.
The statement added that he is one of the most wanted terrorists who was a dangerous fugitive involved previously in Helwan police bus attack in 2016 as leader of the perpetrators -killing one of the officers and 7 policemen.
The extremist carried out a series of armed attacks, including: – Assault on the road toll collector in the area of Al Wasiti center in Beni Suef governorate on Thursday evening, which claimed the lives of 3 employees of the toll road, “due to their previous military backgrounds.” – Assaulting a cafe near the village of Amiriya in the center of Ayat on 23 of this month, killing 3 people and wounding 5 others, “because of his thoughts of the atonement of playing “Backgammon ” in the cafe. – Assault on the road toll on the regional road in the vicinity of Al-Ayat Center in Giza on July 5 this year, killing three workers in the toll road, “due to their former military backgrounds” as well. – The killing of a citizen and the seizure of his car in Helwan area in Cairo on 8 August 2016.
The statement confirmed that the results of the technical examination of the weapon seized from the detained extremist showed his compatibility with the weapon used in all the attacks mentioned, and necessary legal procedures were taken and investigations are still on.
It should be noted that the armed attack on St. Mina church resulted the martyrdom of 7 including a policeman and injury of 4 others, in addition of two copts killed in a shop by the attacker earlier in the day .
The Egyptian Interior Ministry announced the injury and arrest of the attacker, after the security forces foiled an attempt to storm the church by the extremist who was carrying a firearm and an explosive device .
