President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met on Tuesday morning at his residence in Berlin, “Anba Demian”, bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Germany.
Al-Sisi said during the meeting that Egypt will always be home to all its citizens without discrimination, pointing out that Egypt is proud of its citizens living abroad as ambassadors of the country, reflecting the original values of the Egyptian personality.
Al-Sisi stressed on the strength of the Egyptian national unity, pointing out that the terrorism attacks will not succeed in destroying national unity in Egypt. He pointed out that Egypt is facing terrorism with all determination and strength and that Egyptians are fully aware of the importance of unifying them both abroad and at home to combat terrorism and bullying which is unacceptable to any religions and to humanity.
Sisi also expressed the State’s keenness to consolidate the values of citizenship and co-existence, through actual practices on the ground, stressing on the pivotal role of religious institutions in spreading ideas of tolerance and openness, promoting tolerant religious values and refuting the corrupt ideas of extremism, and terrorism.
The Spokesman added that Anba Damian expressed his happiness at the meeting with President Al Sisi, praising his role in restoring stability and security in Egypt during the past years. He stressed that the Coptic Church in Germany has made an effort to connect with German society to convey the true picture of the situation in Egypt and correct the wrong ideas in this regard.
