On the sideline of HH Pope Tawadros II visit to Rome, which began yesterday, His Holiness met Ambassador Hisham Badr, Egyptian ambassador to Rome, who expressed his appreciation to His Holiness Pope Twadros II as a religious and national valuable figure, an Egyptian symbol and an ambassador who raise the name of Egypt high in various international fora.
Ambassador Badr said that His Holiness the Pope presents a true image of patriotism as His Holiness has protected Egypt and its people from division and sedition and kept Egypt solidity during the crises that Egypt went through.
He added “His Holiness is a religious valuable figure who presents s a message of love to the whole world.
We are delighted and happy for the presence of your Holiness with us, you raise our heads and the name of Egypt high, the presence of your holiness supports and strengthens relations between Egypt and Italy and your meeting with the Italian President tomorrow strengthens these ties.
About the relationship with His Holiness Pope Francis, the Egyptian ambassador said: “There is no doubt that having good relations with Pope Francis and having a special relationship, love and friendship between you and the Pope of Rome supports the relations between Egypt and the Vatican as well.”
The Pope is currently in Italy to participate in ecumenical prayer for peace in the Middle East, which was held in the presence of a number of church leaders.
