Today, Wednesday, March 17, 2021, the Coptic Orthodox Church celebrates the ninth anniversary of the departure of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, the 117th Patriarch of the Coptic Church, in the Monastery of Saint Bishoy in Wadi Al-Natroun. The Divine Liturgy was led by His Grace Bishop Ermia, the General Bishop and Head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, His Grace Bishop Salib of Mit Ghamr and its dependencies, His Grace Bishop Aghabius, Bishop and Head of the Monastery of Saint Bishoy in Wadi Al-Natroun, in the presence and participation of the monks of the monasteries of Wadi Al-Natroun.
Yesterday evening, Tuesday, His Grace Bishop Aghabius scented the body of the Triple Beatified Pope Shenouda III, at his shrine in the Monastery of Saint Bishoy in Wadi Al-Natroun.
It is noteworthy that Pope Shenouda III, departed on March 17, 2012 at the age of 89, served the church as a monk in the Monastery of Syrian. He was ordained a bishop of education as soon as it was established, and he was a secretary of Pope Kyrillos VI, he assumed papacy in 1971 for more than forty years, he was called by his lovers “the teacher of generations, the father of the Arabs, and the one beloved by millions.” Pope Shenouda III: A fragrant biography… a journey of limitless giving… a milestone in history.
