The Coptic Orthodox Church announced that it will hold the birth of St. Mary festive at St. Mary monastery in Mount Dronka in Assiut as scheduled, from August 7 to 21, amid tight security.
The church said that the celebrations will be confined to the courtyards of the monastery and not outside, and coordination was held with the security authorities to install 17 electronic gates, to check the visitors from the beginning of the road, and to prevent private cars to got to the top of the mountain as the monastery will provide 20 buses, to transport elderly and sick people from the external gate to the top.
The churches had taken a decision early this month to cancel activities and conferences of the church for fear of any terrorist attacks on Christians based on information received by the Police.
