Today Tuesday, March 15,2016 In a grand ceremony hosted by the Coptic Evangelical organization Egypt Churches Council celebrates three years of its inception in the presence of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II.
According to the internal council regulation, which chooses every two years a Secretary-General for the Council representing a denomination of member churches, and it is the turn of the Evangelical Church, which nominated the Rev. Refaat Fathi for the position of Secretary-General, and the Rev. George Shaker for the position of Chairman of the Executive Committee, according to the statement by Michael Victor Secretary assistant of the media at the Council .
In the same context, Victor stressed, that HH Pope Tawadros II agreed on Evangelical Church proposal to remain as the honorary president of the Council and to rotate the Secretary-General and the President of the Executive Committee posts between member churches, however the Secretary-General will be the actual president of the Council according to the internal regulations.
Mentioning that the Council of the Churches of Egypt was established three years ago for the purpose of unity among the five member churches like the Middle East Churches Council and the Orthodox Church donated to purchase a headquarter for the council.
