On Tuesday February 9, 2016 Criminal Court in Qena headed by Judge Fathi Abu Zeid acquitted 38 accused men and sentenced 10 others for life because of sectarian strife clashes between Muslims and Copts at Nag Hassan village in Luxor.
Sectarian clashes took place at July 2013, at Nagaa Hassan in Dabiaa village in the west of Luxor, which resulted the deaths of a Muslim and 4 Copts and injury of three others, and the burning of 23 houses. Security forces in Luxor, received notification, of the murder of Hassan Hosni Sidqi Salem (54 years), Roman Noshi (42 years), Emile Nessim (40 years), Mohareb Noshi (40 years), and Rasim Tadros (53 years), and wounding three others ,and burning and destroying 23 houses, after violent clashes between Muslims and Copts, the security forces arrested 14 defendants, and referred the case to the public prosecutor, who referred it to the Criminal Court of Luxor which referred it to Qena criminal court.
