Greece President Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades visited the Greek Orthodox Church in Alexandria on Tuesday and met with the Patriarch of the Church and heard a detailed explanation about the church.
On Monday, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, accompanied by Cyprus and Greece guests, witnessed revival of Roots week in Alexandria.
The opening ceremony included a special presentation on “Reviving Roots” followed by speeches by Ambassador Nabila Makram, Minister of State for Migration and Egyptians Abroad, Fotis Fotiou, Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Overseas Cypriots, and Terence Spencer Nicholas Quick, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece.
It also included a 10-minute documentary film about the Greek and Cypriot communities in Egypt, which also included speeches by the Presidents of Egypt, Cyprus and Greece and an artistic exhibition by the Opera House.
