We tackled the last words of Holly Butcher at the previous article one day before she departed. She said that life is precious and it is not a granted right to anyone, but a gift from God. She asked people to stop worrying about problems, but try to face them. They should stop having negative energy, lest their life be affected and they affect others negatively.
Holly comments that, “I hear people complaining about how terrible work is or about how hard it is to exercise. Be grateful you are physically able to. Work and exercise may seem suck like trivial things until your body does not allow you you do both of them. I tried to live a healthy life, in fact, that was probably my major passion. Appreciate your good health and functioning body- even if it isn’t your ideal size.”
Holly grabs our attention to the importance of realizing the gifts we own in our life, however we maybe do not recognize its existence or feel it at all. So instead of appreciating God’s graces we keep our eye on the obstacles and the problems we face so our life turns into a heavy burden and permanent sorrows. We had to beware of the full half that we own not the one that we do not, so that we feel appreciation, satisfaction and happiness. I truly recall the person who wanted to sell his house as he did not see any merits in it. But when his friend designed its purchase advertisement explaining the merits of the house, he read it andchanged his mind.He discovered that his house was the same one he always dreamt to own. Most of the time we get used to the graces and the advantages so we do not feel it at all then we lost them and discover how shortsighted we were.
Holly asks people to be thankful for everyday they pass with no pain, and to accept the days in which they feel they are not okay when they feel the symptoms of cold, back sore or a sprained ankle, so they should be thankful it isn’t life threatening and will go away. Here I recall the word of H.H. LATE Pope Shenouda III about God’s gifts: “Believe me, brethrens if we truly believed that God gives constantly, life will never be enough to thank him”
Holly also said, “Help each other more.
Give, give, give. It is true that you gain more happiness doing things for others than doing them for yourself. I wish I did this more. Since I have been sick, I have met the most incredibly giving and kind people and been the receiver of the most thoughtful and loving words and support from my family, friends and strangers; More than I could I ever give in return. I will never forget this and will be forever grateful to all of these people.”…. to be continued
