Austrian President Dr. Heinz Fischer received on Friday at noon, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, in the Presidential palace in Hofburg in the Austrian capital Vienna. The Austrian President’s press office mentioned that the president also received Patriarch Bartholomew, Patriarch of Constantinople for the Greek Orthodox, and a number of representatives of the Oriental Orthodox Churches, in the framework of Austria’s celebrations on the 50th anniversary of establishing the Pro Orienta organization that is concerned with dialogue between the Catholic Churches and Oriental Orthodox Churches, Coptic, Armenian and Syriac [Syrian]. The office added that the president held a special luncheon banquet for the guests, during which they investigated means of cooperation and dialogue between Christian denominations, and a number of current international affairs. The meeting was attended by the Austrian representative Cardinal Christoph Schönborn and head of the parliament Doris Bures and a number of clergymen.
