HH Pope Tawadros II lead eve prayer before the ordination of the New Archbishop of Jerusalem

Yesterday at the Greater St. Mark Church at Klot Beik HH Pope Tawadros II,Pope of Alexandria and the see of St.Mark led eve prayer prior the ordination of the New bishop of Jerusalem. His Holiness Pope Tawadros II anointed the new Bishop clothes with the participation of Church Bishops,and announced Father Theodore “new bishop of Jerusalem” new name “Anthony”. The Archbishop of Jerusalem oversees six countries which are: Kuwait, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Jerusalem and Jordan.

Father Theodore Anthony entered the church clutching the hand of  Bishop Justus, bishop of St. Anthony monastery in the Red Sea, the monastery where father Theodore was ordained as a monk and the hand of Bishop Andraos Bishop Of Abotej,the city where father Theodore was born, grew up and served. The grand St. Mark church Scout played “Marsh Scout” at HH Pope Tawadros II, and the new bishop entry to the church while audiences cheered and ululated.

Before the Pope and Bishops of the Holy Synod arrival members of the Scouts wearing badges bearing the image of Father Theodore were deployed in the church vicinity, to be sure of the identity of the entrants and the area around the church saw security Tightening from the police.

The Pope expressed his happiness on the occasion, he said in his speech: “We are in a historic day in the history of the Coptic Church, for several reasons: First: We meet at the St. Mark’s Church, former Pontifical headquarter, for 200 years where 8 Patriarchs were ordained and Sitted and the last one was late Pope St. Kyrollos “Cyril” VI. 
So we are in a place that carries a whiff of history, heritage and spirit of holiness and inspired the spirit of the fathers who were ordained in this blessed Church.
HH Pope Twadros II cited the names of the patriarchs who were ordained at St. Mark Church and they are Pope Botros “Peter” VII, Pope Demetrius,  Pope Kyrollos”Cyril” IV, Pope Yoannes “John”, and Pope Makarios, Pope Yousab, and Pope Kyrollos “Cyril” VI, pointing out that the circumstances and Coincidence that made us meet in this place due to the restoration of the cathedral and because it is full of scaffolding”
He added: The second reason is that we rejoice of the ordination of  Archbishop of Jerusalem after three months from the Departure of Archbishop Abraham
And the third point is: We have 6 of the venerable Bishops who have tired in the church service and we thank ad honor them by promoting them to Archbishops, although promotion is not a church expression, but we use it for its positive meaning.
