The Christian churches celebrate today the 4th anniversary of the establishment of Egypt Churches Council, in the presence of the heads of different churches and denominations, headed by His Holiness Pope Tawadros, Pope of Alexandria, Patriarch of the see of St. Mark, at the Episcopate Cathedral of All Saints Churches in Zamalek.
The ceremony will be attended by Pastor André Zaki, President of the Evangelical Community in Egypt, Anba Ibrahim Ishaq Patriarch of the Coptic Catholics, Munir Hanna, Archbishop of the Episcopal Church in Egypt and North Africa, and a number of representatives of the Greek Orthodox Church.
The heads of the Churches are scheduled to meet with Rev. Refaat Fathy, Secretary General of Egypt Churches Council and Pastor Bishoy Helmy, former Secretary General of the Council, to discuss a number of issues and the work of the Council during the coming period.
The ceremony will begin at 6 pm in the Grand Hall of the Episcopal Church. The Secretary General of the Council will deliver a speech, followed by speeches of Bishop Mounir Hanna, of Episcopal Church, Patriarch Ibrahim Isaac, the Patriarch of the Catholics, HH Pope Tawdros II, heads of Evangelical and Greek Orthodox churches.
The celebration includes a number of hymns and chants, by a joint ecumenical singing group, representing all members of denominations, and concludes by cutting off the cake and beginning the fifth year of the council.
