Turkey launched airstrikes in the past days on northwestern Syria controlled by Kurds targeting a militia claiming that they are “terror army” that presents a danger to Turkish security.
Turkish air force strikes killed six civilians and three Kurdish militiamen and 13 civilians were wounded and opened a loophole for Islamist militants to reenter Syria after losing ground in the past year as Turkey is known to be ruled by Muslim Brotherhood Islamic group.
The Assault which was followed by ground invasion by Turkey troops pushed Fr. Valentin Hanan to plead to international community plead to stop the Turkish assault on the city and the church and protect the from Islamists which threatens them with extermination
Statement of the Church of the Shepherd pastor:
We are the Church of the Good Shepherd in the city of Afrin. We call for urgent international protection for the believers in Afrin and to stop the Turkish bombardment. At this moment, we are subjected to heavy shelling and the Islamic factions vow to enter the city. As a church we ask the Lord first for protection and then ask brethren for prayers and help.
