Fr. Samaan Shehata, pastor at of Julius of Aqfahs church, was martyred as a result of a skull fracture and Fr. Benyamin Moftah a priest of Angel Church in Azabat Francis, Mattay, was injured in the same accident by a cut in the right side of the chest and was rushed to hospital.
The Cairo police received a report of the killing of a church priest and wounding another in elMarg, and police forces moved to the scene.
General Khaled Abdel-Aal, the director of Cairo Police, ordered the formation of a research team under the supervision of Major General Mohamed Mansour director of the investigation department to uncover the circumstances of the accident, and the identify and arrest the attackers.
