Father Mikhael Anton, vice president of the Churches Reconciliation Commission, revealed details of his receipt of an official letter from the government ministerial committee forbidding the closing of churches in which rituals are held in more than 14 provinces in accordance with the law of building and restoring churches issued last year.
The Vice-Chairman of the Committee formed by His Holiness Pope Tawadros to represent the Church in front of the Council of Ministers in this regard, in said that some of the Dioceses complained about the closure of the unlicensed churches in recent period for various reasons and in violation of the law which prompted Fr. Mikhael to submit a request to the Ministerial Committee asking to stop closing churches decisions And stressed that the committee responded in a very positive way and granted him a formal letter prohibiting this in the mentioned governorates, a letter that confirm the provisions of Article 8 of the Church Building Law.
