His Grace Anba Athanasius, Bishop of Beni Mazar and Bahnasa, inaugurated an altar in the name of St. Mary and St. Moses the black (Anba Mousa Al Aswad) in Sts. Mary and Shenouda Monastery in Farouqia in Beni Mazar, and Fr. Besad El-Soryanif , the Vicar of the Diocese, all the pastors of the diocese and devotees attended the inauguration. After the mass and the inauguration, they met on Agape’s banquet. Then they discussed the decisions of the Holy Synod of June 2017 and took decisions as follows:
On the basis of the decision of the Holy Synod, the priests were informed in the Diocese that the 8th of Amshir, 15 February of each year is a feast for contemporary Coptic martyrs, his grace confirmed that he is responsible before the Lord to follow-up and support the families of the martyrs and confessors and that they are already following them periodically.
His Grace stressed on the necessity of complying with the decision of the Holy Synod regarding the passing of a church course for the preparation of marriage during the engagement period. These courses are already being implemented in the Diocese, and there are courses and awareness seminars with the help of specialists and professors of advice held. The courses attendees get certified by the Diocese and His Grace Anba Athanasius. And the diocese regions got divided to hold quality marriage preparation course.
