H.G. Anba Raphael, Bishop of Cairo downtown churches and Secretary General of the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church, thanked the police for their success in stopping a terrorist attack targeting one of Alexandria’s churches.
“A heartfelt salute to the police forces, which stopped a terrorist attack, almost caused a new catastrophe in one of the churches of Alexandria,” said Anba Rafael, in a post on his official Facebook page. “The Lord keep our country safe and quiet, so Egypt regain its position as a developed nation. “
The Interior Ministry announced yesterday the seizure of a terrorist cell consisting of 6 people who were planning to carry out a terrorist attack in one of the churches of Alexandria during Eid al-Fitr.
