Amid tight security, Fathers of al-Muharraq monastery in Assiut received the body of late Anba Sawiris, abbot of the monastery, who departed on Friday evening July 12, 2017, after battling with disease in a Cairo hospital.
On Saturday, July 22, 2017, morning His Holiness Pope Tawadros II headed the funeral service of late Anba Sawiris, Abbot of Al-Muharraq monastery, in al-Botroussia Church in Abbassiya then his body was transferred to his monastery to hold mid-night praise and the Divine Liturgy in the presence of the body at the church then hold funeral service on Sunday, 23 July 2017 at 11:00 Pm at the archaeological church in el-Muharraq monastery and receive condolences on Sunday evening at the monastery hall.
