Under the patronage of Dr. Abdul Wahab Ezzat, President of Ain Shams University, His Eminence Bishop Ermia, General Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, Prof. Nazmi Abdul Hamid, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Hanan Al-Saeed, Director of the Integrated Learning Center and the General Supervisor of Training Programs and Dr. Tarek Mansour, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for community service and environmental development.
A new batch of Egyptian Sign Language program graduation ceremony was held On Thursday evening, 7 December 2017, the Program is held in cooperation with the Coptic Orthodox Center.
Dr. Abdul Wahab Ezzat President of the University explained in his speech that in the framework of fruitful and constructive cooperation a protocol of cooperation was signed between the University of Ain Shams and the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center last year to provide community service for the deaf and dumb to teach them the Egyptian sign language by specialists.
In his speech, His Eminence Bishop Ermia expressed his great pleasure for the graduating of a new batch for this distinguished community service. He thanked all those who worked on this project. He enumerated the number of students from 2015 to 2017 which reached 70, who where trained and taught the Egyptian sign language, 12 were employed at Ain Shams University and 3 at Cairo University, the largest share was at Ain Shams University which is the leader in this community service.
His Eminence also appealed to His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education to circulate these programs to teach the sign language in all Egyptian universities, and wished further progress and growth for Ain Shams University.
Dr. Hanan Al-Saeed, supervisor of the training programs, explained that there is two levels of learning the Egyptian Sign Language were held this year in cooperation with the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, the first level was held at the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center and Second Level at Ain Shams University.
She added, I thank all those responsible for this work, and special thanks to Mr. Mahmoud Nasrallah, who has spared no effort and assistance to complete these programs and graduate a batch to challenge deaf by speaking using sign language as it is a humanitarian message and a noble purpose to integrate deaf with the Egyptian society and communicate with the deaf, deaf and dumb.
Dr. Hanan announced, In continuation of the role of Ain Shams University in the development of society and environmental service, the approval of the President of the University to develop these programs to a specialized professional diplomas for the sign language to be a nucleus and a beginning to communicate with this type of disability.
At the end of the ceremony, the trainees were honored and the graduation certificates were handed over to them.
