HH Pope Tawadros II welcomed at the papal on Wednesday president of Singapore Dr. Tony Tan.
Singaporean President pointed out during the meeting to the growing economic cooperation between Egypt and Singapore. He alluded to the joint cooperation between the two countries in various fields and said that he is keen on this cooperation.
For his part, the Pope expressed his appreciation for the role played by Singapore at the economic level in Egypt and for investing in Egypt, and calls the president for more investment in Egypt in all fields, particularly in education.
His Holiness then spoke about the history of the Coptic church in Egypt as well as the Coptic monasticism and the nature of relations between Muslims and Christians and communication and cooperation between Al-Azhar and the Church and between the Church and the active institutions in Egypt.
His Holiness also referred to the Egyptian family house activities and conferences that gather imams and priests in order to increase communication and understanding.
HH Pope Tawadros II concluded that Egypt is waiting for a promising future anticipating that a cultural transmission will occur in Egypt through major projects. The visit of the President of Singapore for the cathedral is in the framework of his current visit to Egypt, which began last Monday and is scheduled to take four days.
