Rev. Ermia Fahmi, spokesman of the Coptic Orthodox Archdiocese of Port Said, said on Sunday that the governor, Major General Adel El-Ghadban, agreed to allocate a plot of land to build a new church for Copts Orthodox in Port Said.
The allocation of land to establish a church in Port Said eastern the athletes’ village in ElDawahi district on a 5,000 square meters, decision is No. 960 for the year 2016.
Rev. Ermia explained that the decision of the Executive Council of the governorate to allocate a plot of land to build a Coptic Orthodox church, was part of a plan to develop the area.
He pointed out that the decision will be sent to the Council of Ministers, and that he expected that the cabinet ratifies the decision within 10 days.
The media spokesman of the Archdiocese of Port Said, said that the archdiocese is always playing a national and service role in raising the quality of live of citizen of Port Said through the establishment of buildings, health services and hospitals, including the hospital of Ava Mina, noting that he expected the establishment of a new hospital in conjunction with the construction of the above-mentioned church in order to help reduce the burdens on the citizen and the state.
Media spokesman for the Archdiocese of Port Said added that the church in Port Said is interested to build a number of high level of education schools to contribute in the development of education in the province, including the Greek school, St George’s School and Good Shepherd School.
