The Monastery of St. Mary, known as the Monastery of Gabal El-Teir in Samalut, Minya, began preparations for the annual celebration of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, which takes place from Thursday 18 May to Thursday 25 May each year.
Anba Befnotios, Bishop of Samalut in Minya will inaugurate Escape to Egypt Church at the Monastery during the celebration of the Assumption of Virgin Mary as he in keen to develop the monastery as one of the most important places in the journey of the Holy Family in Egypt.
A few days ago, Anba Befnotios inaugurated 7 baptisms at the Church of Virgin Mary in Gabal El-Teir in preparation for the celebration season, as hundreds of visitors are used to baptize their children as 2 million visitors come from around the world each year.
