Members of revival of the Holy Family Journey path committee subordinated to the Tourism Ministry, headed by Hisham Demeiri, head of the Tourism Promotion Authority and deputy minister, met with HH Pope Tawadros II and congratulated him for the opening of the cave Church “Abu Serga” after the completion of its’ restoration and on the inauguration of the new altars.
The ministry’s delegation, stressed in a statement, on the importance of religious tourism in Egypt, and the importance of coordination with the Egyptian Church to organize trips to the points that the Holy Family visited in Egypt as a message of love and peace to the world and to increase the religious tourism to have a positive impact toward the restoration of tourism in Egypt.
The delegation added that the Ministry of Tourism, the Tourism Promotion Authority and Development Authority are extremely backing the revival of the Holy Family path project especially that Egypt have many Christian tourism sites, which have great attention from millions of Christians in the world.
The meeting dealt with the importance of the church in allocating an annual religion tourism program to promote it to the world as soon as possible.
The Holy Family Journey is expected to attract a large segment of tourists interested in religious and spiritual tourism wich will lead to the development of about 25 local community of the communities less fortunate in Upper Egypt, such as those found in Minya and Assiut.
