Attack on 3 houses of Copts in “alDawar” village in Beheira and police surround the village
Copts: Attack was because of a Copt demanded a person for late pay and the other party responds “Honor crime”
On Wednesday evening, dozens of people attacked 3 Coptic houses in alDawar village in Kafr El-Dawar, Beheira. They threw stones and Molotov cocktails, and destroyed the windows of two houses, a library and a store before the security forces intervened and surrounded Copts houses.
According to one of the attacked Copts story, the problem occurred after his uncle, Awad Zaki, smith “Haddad”, 45, went to the house of Mohammed Sobhi to claim for late pay of work he has done for him so a quarrel occurred and they dragged him inside the house and accused him with honor crime.
He added that the police came and took his uncle and another member of his family, Anis Mansour and a person from the other party to the police station, and after the police has gone, dozens of the people of the village gathered and threw stones on 3 houses located in the street, and windows of houses, library and a shop were razed, they also threw some Molotov cocktails on the rooftops of the Copts’ houses but were put out by the owners of the houses, before the police intervened quickly, dispersed the crowd and cordoned the houses.
He pointed out that the village has a number of other houses of the Copts, but they attacked only 3 houses located in this street, and inhabited by 10 families.
Church source pointed out that the people arrested by the police will be presented to the prosecution tomorrow, and the destroyed the houses, library and shop were inspected, confirming the story mentioned above and revealed the absence of any religious chants while attacking the Copts houses, and stressed that this attack is the first in the village.
