Seven years after the incident that shook the Egyptian street in general and the Christian street in particular, the Court of Cassation declared, today, Thursday, the accused people in the incident known in the media as “The Lady of Al-Karm”- located in the Abu Qurqas Center in Minya Governorate- acquitted.
The Criminal Court had acquitted the three defendants involved in the case of denudingSouad, 70, after tearing all her clothes, beating her in front of her house, and burning her house, known in the media as “The Lady of Al-Karm” in Abu Qurqas Center, in the wake of an attack by the villagers on Christians in 2016.
Al-Karmvillage, which is affiliated to Abu Qurqas Center, witnessed an attack on May 20, 2016, on the grounds of rumors spread about a relationship between a married housewife and a married Coptic man. Three accused people were referred to trial, as they were sentenced in absentia to 10-year-imprisonement on 11 January 2020, then trial procedures were repeated and an acquittal was issued.
