For the first time in the history of the Egyptian Parliament, Coptic MP Amany Aziz has been elected as the deputy chair of the religious affairs committee.
The election of 25 Specific Committees in the Egyptian Parliament resulted the election of Coptic MP Amany Aziz as the deputy chair of the religious affairs committee as head of the committee is former head of Al-Azhar University Osama Al-Abd who was Elected by acclamation.
This is the first time in the annals of the parliament that a Coptic MP to be chosen for that post.
It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian Parliament, began its work, last November, after three years of absence, and 36 Copts were elected , to be the highest number of Copts deputies in the history of the Egyptian parliament.
