Al-Arish families displaced in Port Said issued a statement denouncing the negligence of officials for their situation as the government didn’t find houses for them and they are still living in youth camps.
The statement said: “We are Al-Arish families displaced in Port Said since last February, we live in small rooms at the youth camp and relief building. We are suffering from a tragedy and we do not find anyone who listens to us from officials or the governor of Port Said. From the beginning of the crisis we went to the governorate of Ismailia and as the number of families increased, Port Said governor welcomed to receive us and promised to support us like Ismailia governor did.
However, over the course of time, 28 families are still living in youth and relief camp. Despite the passage of three months, we did not find any interest by the government and officials in Port Said and the governor confirmed the absence of housing units to transfer families from the youth camp. , Which forced martyr Nabil Saber to return to Al-Arish as he was living with his family in a small room without any privacy or work and he was to killed to be a message to any Copt thinking to return again.
We are sending our message to the Prime Minister: “Where are the promises and concerns that emerged at the beginning of the crisis and the emphasis on caring for the families and their housing, and we will continue to be placed in small rooms in the youth camp? Is attention shown only when the media sheds light on the crisis? we have been displaced from our homes and left our jobs, and now we find only the support of the Church, which plays the role of the state towards Egyptian citizens.
We affirm that we will continue to defend our rights even if all the families have to travel to Cairo and stand in front of the Federal Palace until we meet President Sisi, who gave direct instructions to remove any obstacles to families, and we appreciate the role played by other provinces towards families such as Ismailia and Assiut, But Port Said is a tragedy that needs to be solved.
