One of the villages at Edmo, in Menya has stated, “On Friday around noon, sectarian conflicts broke out between a number of Copts in the village and a Muslim family, the Al-Awaysa family. They had attacked four Copts who have been injured in various places of their bodies.” He clarified “The conflicts erupted between the Muslim Family and Isaac Hanna, one of the wounded, because of neighborly issues between the two sides. A person in the village had incited the Muslim family against him, claiming they were being cursed by him and slandering him, then matters escalated, the Muslim family attacking the larges street of the village, its main roadway, which houses mostly Coptic Christians. The families closed their commercial stores in fear of damages, and during that process three other Copts were assaulted.” He added, “Both parties have been referred to the police station, and a report has been filed to record the incident, and document the Christians’ injuries.
