The committee, set up by the Council of Ministers to discuss the legalization of unlicensed churches with representatives of Christian denominations, meets today, the meeting was scheduled for last Thursday and was postponed due to the anniversary celebrations of the October 6 war.
Dr. Andrea Zaki, head of the Evangelical community, told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the first meeting will be followed by other meetings. The papers will be presented with the requests for the legalization of churches, service houses, and all places where prayers are held before the building of churches law was passed.
Zaki pointed out that there is cooperation to discuss the requests and speed up regulation, according to the law of building churches, explaining that the papers attached to the applications include property contracts, engineering drawings and others.
According to sources, the Coptic Orthodox Church has collected 2,650 requests from all parishes, all of which meet the requirements. H.H. Pope Tawadros II, was keen to set up a committee to examine the cases of churches and communicate with them continuously.
