For the first time in years, Copts of Qom Al-Waselin, were unable to practice their religious rites on Saturday, December 23, 2017.
This angered the Copts who were prevented from exercising their right to pray in the church, which they have been practicing for 15 years and officially sought to legalize the building’s status under a 2016 law that laid down the rules for building churches.
The security forces imposed a security cordon inside the village and prevented Copts from entering the church.
On the other hand, member of parliament from Atfih did not interfere in the situation or visited the victims, which angered everyone because there is no role played by the representatives of the people.
The Copts who appealed to the president and the government to solve the problem and punish the perpetrators, and to stop the usual rule that the Copts always pay the price by preventing them from praying and closing the church on the pretext of social peace.
