The Committee of Constitutional and Legislative Affairs of the House of Representatives Postponed discussing law draft to abolish Article 98, paragraph “W” of the Penal Code, talking about contempt of religion, until they find out the opinion of Al-Azhar, Fatwa and the Church about the subject, as the Ministry of Justice refused to abolish this article as it conflict with the Constitution .
The Committee’s meeting witnessed protest of the majority of the House of Representatives against this law article which they considered blasphemy loose and is left to the whims of judges and the consequent contradictions of adjudications.
