HH Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the see of St. Mark accompanied by HG Anba Julius, Bishop of Old Cairo Churches and Public and Social Services, Anba Makari, Bishop of Southern Shubra Churches, Anba Aklimandos, Bishop of Almaza, El-Haghana, East Nasr City, Sergius Sergius, Patriarchal Vicar in Cairo, Fr. Angelios Isaac, Fr. Amonios Adel secretaries of His Holiness the Pope, Fr. Boulos Halim, Spokesman for the Coptic Church, Dr. Hani Kamil, Head of the Pontifical residence, and Mrs. Barbara Soliman, Director of the Pontifical Office for Projects and Relations received on Friday the Portuguese President Marcelo de Sousa at St Mark’s Cathedral in Cairo.
De Sousa also visited al-Boutrossiya Church and laid down flowers at the memorial for the victims of the 2016 suicide bombing.
On Thursday, de Sousa visited Egypt’s Al-Azhar and met with its Grand Imam Sheikh Mohamed El-Tayeb. He also visited Al-Azhar University, where he delivered a lecture on coexistences.
De Sousa arrived in Cairo for a three-day-visit on Wednesday, and met with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Thursday
