“Holy Synod” convenes under the chairmanship of HH Pope Tawadros II to discuss building churches bill

Churches building law issue dispute continued between Christian denominations and the government after disagreement on some of the bill terms that should be submitted to the House of Representatives, churches imposed secrecy about its consultations with the government, which began last week and culminated with the meeting between HH Pope Tawadros II and Prime Minister Sherif Ismail.

His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the see of Saint Mark, will head an emergency meeting of the Holy Synod of the Church on  Wednesday and His Holiness stated yesterday on ME Sat Coptic Channel that he would consult with the Holy Synod in only two points in the building churches law, that is being negotiated about with the government, without revealing more details, and than send the synod point of view to the government, which has not yet officially issued the law decreed.
