The first international exhibition of Orthodox icon contemporary art in Athens was opened in the presence of the President of UNESCO, Greek Church Patriarch Deputy, Egyptian Cultural Counselor, Metropolitan Anthonios of Jerusalem and Bishop Pavlos, Bishop of the Coptic Church in Greece, the exhibition takes place from September 24 to 28. A number of artists from different countries participated in the exhibition amid heavy presence from Icon art fans and the media. Egyptian participation was welcomed, and artist Adel Nassif, participated with a new icon representing the Holy Family escape to Egypt, incarnating the Egyptian civilization and symbols of peace, love and blessings, and how the Egyptians welcomed the family holy, size 122 × 65 cm icon drawn with tempera.
