His Eminence Anba Ermia, General Bishop and Head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, received the participants of the First International Forum for Coptic Orthodox Youth at the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center at the Cathedral of St. Mark in Abbassia.
The Forum was attended by Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Khaled Al Anani, Minister of Antiquities, Dr. Rania Al Mashat, Minister of Tourism, His Grace Anba Daniel,Bishop of Maadi, and many of the bishops of the Holy Synod and nearly 200 young men and women from the Coptic Church immigrants in 30 countries in five continents.
“Back to roots” forum is the first gathering of young Copts from all over the world, and the program includes spiritual session in addition to cultural and tourism tours in Egypt’s distinctive landmarks.
HH Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the see of St. Mark, delivered a speech to the audience, saying that this great gathering of young Copts from all over the world on the land of Egypt is a unique event because it is being held for the first time in the history of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
During the meeting, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, met with Coptic youth from all over the world who participated in the activities of the First World Week of Coptic Orthodox church Youth.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, thanked His Holiness Pope Tawadros II for his kind invitation to attend this great event, and expressed his appreciation for the presence of Egyptian Copts youth from all over the world.
The Minister of Youth and Sports pointed out to the need to intensify communication between Coptic youth abroad and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, noting that the ministry is opening its doors to these young people, stressing that the Ministry of Youth and Sports is the house for all Egyptian youth inside and outside.
On his part, the Minister of Antiquities, Dr. Khaled Al Anani, said in a statement issued by the ministry that he was pleased to attend this forum and meet young people from all over the world who expressed their pride of the Egyptian civilization and antiquities in addition to their joy to hear and see the modern archaeological discoveries in Egypt that has huge echo all over the world.
The young people also took the opportunity of the presence of Dr. Khaled Al-Anani and asked him many questions about the Egyptian monuments and civilization and took pictures with him.
It is noteworthy that His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, had opened the activities of the First World Week of the Coptic Coptic Orthodox Youth on Saturday 25 August at the Pontiac Logos Center in Wadi El Natroun. The forum will continue until Saturday
