Syriac Catholic Patriarch of Antioch Ignatius Joseph III Younan , in a statement distributed by the Patriarchate Secretariat, denounced the terrorist bombing that occurred in the city of Qamishli in Syria on Sunday afternoon after the inauguration of martyrs monument of the Syriac “Sipho” genocide in a ceremony held by the Patriarch of the Syriac Orthodox Church Ignatius Ephrem II.
Patriarch Younan denounced”this terrorist act which was planned by forces of darkness to sow strife and displace safe and innocent citizens ,” he thanked God for the safety of the Patriarch Ephrem II and members of the delegation accompanying him from bishops, clergy and worshipers ”
He concluded by asking God “for mercy for the martyrs and condolences to their families and to heal the wounded, and asked that the province of Hasaka and Qamishli, and beloved Syria enjoy security and peace, and the citizens enjoy reassurance and stability.”
