Members of the Islamic State Organization in Iraq and Syria “ISIS” has sold all contents of the Mar Ephram Syriac [Syrian] Orthodox Church after stealing its most valuable contents, and torching it’s legendary treasures. It’s located in the Al-Shurta [Police] District of Mosul, capital of the province of Nineveh, the second most densely populated Iraqi province following the Iraqi capital Baghdad. This took place on Sunday.
A trusted source from the agency, who preferred to remain anonymous, indicated that “Members of the group sold all contents of the Church, emptying it completely.” The source added: “ISIS brought down all crosses of the Church last June, and stole all its valuable possessions, with the intent of making the Church a headquarters of the so-called ‘Mujahideen Shura [Consultative] Council’.” The source emphasized that the situation in Mosul is most dreadful since ISIS entered it on the 6th of June, and took control of the entire city on the 10th of the same month. They are currently liquidating and arresting all who oppose them intellectually.
