The Egyptian Media Forum, headed by Major General Tariq Mahdi, announced the launch of the Ramadan Cultural Gathering “the People of Egypt tent”, in cooperation with the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Media Authority, the Dialogue Center for Political and Information Studies and Sharaf Foundation for Sustainable Development at the Conference and Civil Education Center of the Ministry of Youth, Cairo Tower Street in front of the Football Federation in Zamalek, from the evening of Friday, June 1, 2018 to Sunday, 10 June 2018 at 9:30 pm.
This came during a press conference held by the Forum on Wednesday evening, at its headquarters in Giza, in the presence of a number of journalists and TV channels.
The conference began by Major General Mahmoud Metwally, member of the board of trustees and treasurer of the forum, welcoming guests. He then gave a brief overview about the forum and its board of trustees. He pointed out that the forum was established in November 2016, and works to strengthen the developmental role of the media to build Egypt and revive values and professional and ethical standards. The forum works individually or in cooperation with other institutions or governmental bodies (inside / outside) to achieve its objectives and implement its activities to reach a meaningful professional media that serves the nation’s values, morals and discipline. It seeks to activate the soft forces and the community to restore authentic Egyptian values and deepen The National Enlightenment through a national project of enlightenment using various cultural means through the Forum topics”Cultural and Scientific Services – Information Services and Training – Friendship between Peoples”.

During his speech, Dr. Ahmed Taymour, member of the board of trustees of the forum, stressed that one of the most important concerns of the Egyptian Media Forum is to try to correct the disruptions that dominated a large part of the media. He pointed out that drama and lyric production also strongly needs to be reviewed, Which had a positive impact on the Arab environment because of the art work quality that respected the mind and conscience of the recipient and far from the manifestations of constancy that we see today.
Mr. Ayman Adly, member of the forum’s board of trustees, pointed out that the media has a great and dangerous role in building awareness of society and pushing towards sustainable development, and this highlights the role of the forum, which includes notable people who are only concerned by the public interest of this country and work through specific mechanisms to restore the Egyptian media to be able to face foreign media plans that seek to destroy the awareness and identity of new generations through spreading rumors.
For his part, Sayed Zuhairi, member of the Board of Trustees of the forum, stressed that the role of cultural awareness and enlightenment is of primary importance in order to achieve the goals of the forum. He pointed out that the Forum launched the National Project for Enlightenment in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture. Headed by Ibrahim Al-Sayyad, a member of the board of trustees and the official spokesman of the forum, to hold training courses for media and publicity officials in the General Authority for Culture Palaces throughout the country and to qualify them to deal with issues of their social environment, stressing the need to activate the role of cultural palaces and houses and youth centers because of its geographical spread that qualifies it to play a major role in the issues of awareness and development and combating extremist ideas.
Zuhairi added that the forum works on monitoring the opinions of the public about the media and drama content and to report to the competent authorities to evaluate the performance, and highlight and support positive models.
