HH Pope Tawadros II departed from Tokyo airport heading to Australia, The Pope’s visit to Australia comes as part of his current pastoral visit abroad preceded by his holiness visit to Japan which is the first by a Coptic Patriarch since the founding of the Coptic Church, while His Holiness’s visit to Australia is the first since his enthronement in November 2012.
During his visit to Japan, His Holiness inaugurated the first Coptic Church in Kyoto, Kizugawa, . His Holiness also met with Japanese officials, including the Foreign Minister and the Mayor of Tokyo, and held a press conference attended by representatives of Japanese news agencies and newspapers.
