The German Church hosted a meeting of the Patriarchs and Bishops of the Churches of the Middle East, under the theme: “Christianity in the Middle East: Challenges and Future”, to clarify the challenges and persecutions facing Christianity in the Middle East through a Western Platform.
The meeting was attended by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Patriarchs of the Syriac, Armenian, Ethiopian and Indian Orthodox Churches. Each of the participating Churches is scheduled to speak for 20 minutes during which they will present their views on the subject of the meeting.
The German Church celebrates 500 years since the birth of Protestantism by Martin Luther, an event independent of the meeting of the Patriarchs of the Middle East. There is no connection between the two events and the timing of the meeting of Patriarchs predetermined away from the celebration of the German Church.
The program of His Holiness Pope in Germany includes the inauguration of some of our Coptic churches there, in addition to conducting some medical examinations, as his Holiness suffers from very severe back pain from long time ago.
