HH Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the see of St. Mark led on Sunday a mass at St. Virgin Mary Church in Cairo’s el Zaitoun district, at the close of Golden Jubilee (50th anniversary) celebrations of St. Virgin Mary apparition above the domes of her church in Zeitoun, which lasted for three days, the mass was held with the participation of a large group of bishops of the coptic church, priests and a large gathering of the Coptic congregation.
St. Virgin Mary frequently appeared on April 2, 1968, during the exarchate of Pope Kyrillos VI, the 116th Patriarch of Alexandria. On May 4, 1968, the Patriarchate issued a communiqué confirming the Transfiguration of St. Virgin Mary, the transfiguration was also confirmed by eyewitnesses, from different religions, sects, foreigners, clergy, scientists, professions and other groups.
