St. George Church in Ain Shams celebrated its inauguration, On March 11, 2018, by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II.
HH the Pope arrived at the church on Saturday morning and was received by HG Bishop Hermina, General Bishop of Ein Shams and Al-Matareya churches and a number of the church’s pontiffs, and unveiled the memorial plaque commemorating the renewal and inauguration of the church.
The Pontiffs participated in the prayers along HG Bishop Hermina included:
Bishop Daniel, Bishop of Maadi.
Bishop Timotheus, Bishop of Zagazig and Menia elQamh.
Bishop Martieros, General Bishop of the Eastern Railways Churches in Cairo.
Bishop Ermia, General Bishop and head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center.
Bishop Apephanius, Bishop and Abbot of the Monastery of St. Macarius in Shehit desert.
Bishop Yohanna, Bishop of North Giza.
Bishop Marcos, General Bishop of Hadaeq elQobba and Al Waili churches.
Bishop of Akleimandos, General Bishop of alHagana, Almaza and East of Nasr City.
Fr. Sergius Sergius, Under-Secretary-General of Cairo Patriarchate, and Fr. Angelos Ishak, Secretary of His Holiness the Pope and Church Priests participated in the prayers.
